The Provincial Nominee Program
As the needs of each Province in Canada is unique, they have been
allowed by the Federal Government to nominate candidates for
immigration. This nomination certificate is then passed on to the
Immigration department who then processes their application on a fast
track. As the burden of proof of establishing themselves in Canada is
undertaken by the Province, Immigration then becomes a formal process.
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows participating provinces
and territories to nominate a certain number of foreign nationals each
year. It enables participating provinces and territories to select
immigrants who have specific skills that contribute to that
province/territory's economic and social development.
Provincial nominees (selected foreign nationals) are not assessed
under the federal skilled worker selection factors. However, the
Immigration Department still conducts security and medical screening.
